Ola MoveOS 5: Key Features and Updates You Need to Know

In recent years, electric vehicles’ operating systems have predominated the manual buttons to access multiple crucial features or convenience. Additionally, every EV manufacturer has been working in this space to develop innovative operating systems so that its customers can enjoy a better experience.

Ola Electric has developed the next version of the operating system for its products named Move OS 5. Ola teased the Move OS 5 during their annual event on 15th August, promising that it would go live in Diwali 2024.

Ola Electric has one of the largest customer bases in India’s electric two-wheeler market, selling over 400,000 units annually. Given the abundance of electric vehicles available on the market, manufacturers must make significant advancements in the technology they offer to consumers.

Hence, in this article, we will go over the main characteristics of Ola’s Move OS5 and explain what has been improved.

MoveOS 5

Ola has reportedly revealed a few features in its beta Move OS5 model thus far, but the whole version has not been released yet.

Notably, Ola Electric’s next products, such as their bike, will have Move OS5 pre-installed, which might limit some functions to Ola’s future models alone such as ADAS and other features that require additional hardware.

Here is the list of key features that can be anticipated following the release of the Ola Move OS5 full version.

Group Navigation

The Group Navigation feature enables riders to journey together seamlessly. This feature allows each scooter in a group to appear in real-time on the same map, ensuring no one gets left behind. Whether it’s a ride with friends or any other person commuting to the same destination. You can make a group and invite other Ola users to embark on the same journey with you with enhanced coordination.

Ola Maps has also undergone some upgrades offering EV-friendly routing now. It suggests routes that prioritize access to charging stations, alleviating range anxiety with more confident journeys.

ADAS

ADAS is a widely recognized safety feature in contemporary automobiles and its inclusion in electric scooters guarantees a higher degree of safety for two-wheelers.

ADAS provides riders with real-time collision warnings, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control by using sensors and radars to track the state of the road and the position of the vehicle.

Because ADAS requires certain types of sensors and radars in a vehicle that may not be present in older models, Ola customers who are still driving older Ola electric scooters may not access it even after updating to Move OS5.

Ola has promised to incorporate Move OS5 into their next models. Since electric bikes are more performance-focused than scooters, ADAS will be more useful in these vehicles.

Krutrim AI

One of the most notable features of the next Move OS5 will be Krutrim AI, a voice assistant that can access all the functionality of the electric scooter without your hand or movement.

Similar to other voice assistants offered by internet behemoths like Google and Apple, simply speak, and the task will be completed in a matter of seconds in Krutrim AI. You will be able to access several information through your voice commands as well.

Since developing an AI voice command is already revolutionary for a business and can set it apart from its competitors in the market, Krutrim AI has been the focus of discussion in the EV community.

It appears that hands-free controls will be the way of the future, as Krutrim AI was created to practically abolish the conventional way of using any feature.

Performance Upgrades

It has been reported that after updating to Move OS5, more accurate performance data will be accessible and even performance specs will be upgraded. You can anticipate a 3% improvement in your electric scooter’s range.

The new smart charging feature in this edition further improves charging efficiency by optimizing charging based on grid load and electricity rates, accelerating fast charging for electric scooters by up to 15%.

Other features

Additional fancy features include a megaphone that lets you use your smartphone to magnify your voice and turn your electric two-wheeler into a speaker. Thematic modifications have also been made, such as a new dashboard display, increased accessibility to information, and much more.

Conclusion

Customers have criticized Ola for having bugs in their operating systems that occasionally render their scooters temporarily unusable, so even though the new Ola Move OS5 may seem nice, the real truth will be assessed once the full version is out.
